Hi! We're Bek & Adam, parents to two and owners of two kids stores and two kids clothing brands. Yes, we are quite mad and yes, we often forget what day it is.
But as you can see, we're not just a baby clothing company. We're also parents who have been through all the trials and tribulations of having babies so we get it.
This is the Li'l Zippers story.
Let's face it, fidgety, squirmy babies make nappy changing a chore, especially when you're half asleep.
But thanks to Li'l Zippers, that awful battle against flailing legs and stubborn press-studs is the stuff of nightmares no more. Developed by an Aussie mum, Lisa, Li'l Zippers are a simple but brilliant zipper alternative to press-stud fixings on baby growsuits.
Her story is compelling.
"Let me paint you a picture that most new parents recognise. I find myself at three in the morning with my 12 week-old son. Trying to change his nappy when I was half asleep was a nightmare. He would either be crying or wriggling his arms and legs as if he was running a marathon. My mission was to change him as quickly as possible but it was an effort when it came to dressing him in regular rompers. One fastener would always be left on its own, like it was lost and couldn't find its way home. I could never figure out the Kimono suits either. Some zipsuits on the market were ok to use, but removing the legs was still not that easy. Zips placed on one side of the growsuit only made it difficult and fiddly to remove my baby's leg. Wasn't there something out there that was quick and easy?"
The light bulb moment came when Lisa thought, "Why can't there be a zip directly in the middle? The zip should run up the baby's bottom! Then you could remove your baby's legs without too much trouble and dress them up quick with little fuss."
So Li'l Zippers was born.
Fast-forward several years and with Lisa looking to do new things with her creative talents, Li'l Zippers was seeming like it might come to an end. Not on our watch.
We had been stocking Li'l Zippers in our retail store since it's inception and we believed in the brand so much that we simply couldn't let that happen. We loved the designs, we loved the quality and we absolutely knew the concept was life changing because we'd used them on both our kids. We also knew what we were doing because we also had our own kids clothing brand.
To paraphrase a famous quote, "We liked it so much, we bought the company". So with our retail experience at Hugs for Kids and our kids fashion experience with Roasted Fox, the Li'l Zippers story continues...
